
Catherine Scarbrough Fletcher
Director, Herberger Institute Community School for Design and the Arts, Arizona State University (Retired)
Catherine holds a master’s degree in piano performance and has earned multiple regional and national piano competition prizes. After a successful career as a performer and college faculty member, she transitioned into arts administration, where she made a significant impact.
Catherine was asked by Arizona State University in 2004 to build a community school from the ground up, offering non-credit lessons and classes in design and the arts. The Herberger Institute Community School for Design and the Arts operated from 2005–2010 and served over 2,000 students annually.
In 2006, as Executive Director, she played an integral role in founding the prestigious Bösendorfer and Schimmel USASU International Piano Competitions. Held anually at ASU, they continue to draw some of the biggest talents in the world.
Now retired, Catherine has returned to her passion—teaching music to kids and adults of all ages. Along with her husband, Daniel, she has grown a studio of lovely children and families that are learning, creating, and having fun!

Daniel Fletcher
Professor Emeritus, University of Memphis (Retired)
Daniel enjoyed a distinguished 34-year tenure on the piano faculty at the University of Memphis, where he mentored a long list of prominent pianists from around the globe. During his career he performed extensively, captivating audiences with appearances alongside orchestras such as the Atlanta and Memphis Symphony Orchestras.
He was awarded the coveted Performer's Certificate from Indiana University during graduate studies with the legendary Sidney Foster in 1964. Later in his career, Mr. Fletcher went on to win First Prize in the Young Keyboard Artist's Association International competition in 1984, and in 1987, he was awarded Master Teacher status by the Music Teachers' National Association in recognition of his success as a teacher and performer.
Daniel retired in 2002 and teaches privately in Phoenix, AZ.
